Maureen Swanson's husband was styled Lord Ednam until his father's death on 26th December 1969, when he succeeded as the 4th Earl of Dudley. She is his second wife, and they have six surviving children together, in addition to the three from his first marriage.
Her husband's nieces are actresses Rachel Ward (Thorn Birds) and Tracy-Louise Ward (now Marchioness of Worcester).

She also has three stepchildren: William David Humble Jeremy Ward, Viscount Ednam (born 27 March 1947); Lady Rosemary Millicent Ward (born 26 May 1955) and Lady Anne-Marie Ines Ward (born 26 May 1955).
