Though his breakout film performance came when he starred opposite Bruce Willis, Cate Blanchett and Billy Bob Thorton in Barry Levinson's "Bandits", he is perhaps best known for his role as Isaac in the "Barbershop" film franchise. A role he will reprise for the upcoming 2016 film. ===Garity earned=== both a Golden Globe and Independent Spirit Award nomination for his performance in the Showtime original film "Soldier's Girl". The film also garnered Garity a Peabody Award and the AFI award for excellence in film. ===Born in=== Santa Monica California, as a member of the Fonda family, acting was indeed in his blood. He attended the University of Colorado at Boulder and went on to study at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in NYC. After graduation, Troy spent a year performing as a member of the Academy's famed repertory company. ===Some of=== Garity's other notable credits include the Danny Boyle sci-fi thriller "Sunshine," "Gangster Squad" directed by Ruben Fleischer, and the critically acclaimed television series "Boss" directed by Gus Van Sant. ===Troy can been seen=== playing NFL agent Jason Antolotti in HBO's hit comedy series "Ballers." - IMDb Mini Biography By: PPR ===Spouse (1)=== Simone Bent (1 September 2007 - present) ===Trivia (14)=== ===Younger=== half-brother of Vanessa Vadim. ===Son of=== Jane Fonda and Tom Hayden. ===Grandson of=== Henry Fonda. ===Nephew of=== Peter Fonda and Susan Brewer. ===Cousin of=== Bridget Fonda and Justin Fonda. ===One of=== People Magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People. ===Garity is=== his paternal grandmother's name. ===Stepson of Barbara Williams.=== ===Involved with=== the Peace Process Network, a worldwide anti-gang violence coalition. ===Played his father=== in the movie Steal This Movie (2000). When he was 16, he quit school and ran off to follow a circus performer he had a crush on around the country. His parents gave him his paternal grandmother's last name for the sake of anonymity. ===Plays a character=== named "Officer Klute" in A Day in the Life (2006). His mother, Jane Fonda, won an Oscar for Klute (1971), in which Donald Sutherland plays an officer named "John Klute". ===Made his film debut=== as a child opposite his mother Jane Fonda, grandfather Henry Fonda, and Katharine Hepburn. As an adult, he appeared in Bandits (2001) opposite Cate Blanchett, who played Hepburn in The Aviator (2004). ===Personal Quotes (15)=== ===I work out,=== but not like I should. ====I spent all of my childhood=== at a performance art camp. Putting on plays, it was more like commedia dell'arte. It wasn't career-oriented in any way. It was more fun and therapeutic, so I never really thought of it as something I would end up doing. I was more convinced I was going to be a painter. ===My mother was married=== to one of the greatest newsmen of all times. CNN was built out of his idealism and his recognition that, in a global age, we needed greater understanding of the world around us. ===I can disappear=== into things very easily. But with acting, you have to be in the moment, and it gives me this incredibly fulfilling emotion: being really present. ===I try to be=== somewhat wary of fame, but I'm not wary of success. ===If I have one special memory,=== it was when we recreated the trial of the Chicago Seven - and I'd known about it before - but this was a pivotal moment in my life. If my father had been found guilty of conspiracy, I wouldn't be here. ===I don't think=== about the Fonda legacy much. ===School is such=== an encouraging and safe environment. It's filled with idealism and just really working on your craft. When you enter the business world - where art meets commerce - it can become quite depressing. ===When I was=== in the 9th grade, on Halloween night, when you're supposed to go and out and burn your city, my mom made me go to 'Cirque du Soleil.' I was kicking and screaming. This girl came out onstage, and I was instantly mesmerized. I dropped out of school and became obsessed with her. I saw the show, like, 70 times. ===I always thought=== I was sort of awkward and goofy-looking. I'm still kind of gangly. Gel doesn't work in my hair because it has a life of its own. ===I look a lot=== like my father when he was my age. ===I want to show=== my range before I fall into any typecasting. I've turned down a lot of things trying to wait. But at the end of my career, whether that be tomorrow or 40 years from now, I would like to look back and be able to say, 'Ah, I never fell into any gimmicks.' ===I grew up=== around acting, but it was never thought of as a career. ===As a painter===, it seemed easier to sort of disappear. ==Troy Garity== (born July 7, 1973) is an American film actor.
