Shiri Maimon was born in Haifa, and grew up in neighboring town of Kiryat Haim. From the age of four, Shiri knew that she wanted to be a singer. She was an active member of her family`s "entertainment team" – singing and dancing on every possible occasion. The microphone was one of her first "toys" and she has vivid childhood memories of being on stage.
In 1991, aged ten, Shiri made her first "professional" appearance when she sang a well-known song in the annual children`s "Festigal".
During her school years, Shiri was a member of Haifa`s youth "group", appearing at a variety of different functions. At the same time, Shiri worked on developing her "stage presence", taking keyboard lessons and classes in jazz dancing.
In 2000 Shiri was called up for her National Service, and was invited to join the "Air Force Entertainment Group", traveling all over the country to entertain the troops. After the Army, Shiri decided to move to Eilat, Israel`s major "tourist" town and a source of employment for many singers and dancers in the hotel clubs. Shiri worked in Eilat for a year as a singer and dancer.
In 2003 Shiri auditioned for "A Star Is Born", Israel`s version of "American Idol".
She was voted in 2nd place, gained tremendous popularity with public, and was one of the few artists to be signed to a recording contract by Helicon Records.
After being "discovered" in the "A Star Is Born" competition, Shiri was hired as a presenter on the popular daily youth TV program – "Exit", in which she both interviews and discusses relevant youth issues. In addition, Shiri played the leading role in the children`s musical "Mama Mia".
November 2004 saw the release of the first single – "Until you understand me".
The second single was "Time to Say Goodbye" ("Hasheket Shenish`ar"), the song which was chosen to represent Israel in the 2005 Eurovision Song contest. In the Semi final of the contest, the voting public gave Shiri an amazing 116 points out of 120 points possible. Shiri, performing a breathtaking appearance, reached to the very respected 4th place, being the first Israeli song since 1999 which made it to the "Top 10".
In July 2005, Shiri released her third single "A Small Love", which became an instant summer hit. The album, named simply "Shiri Maimon", was released in September 2005, and was very positively received by all music critics. The album went gold within four months, and it is still one of the top-selling albums today. Shiri released two more singles, "How Many Times" in November 2005 and "Wherever You`ll Go" in January 2006, both topped the charts of all the radio stations, local and national. Concurrently, Shiri was the guest of honor in the renowned Hanukkah children`s musical show, "Festigal", which has been running is Israel for over 25 years. In February 2006, as she
celebrated her gold sales achievements, Shiri launched her national tour, based on her successful album. Several weeks earlier, she appeared before the Jewish community in Berlin at its annual fund-raising Gala.
In march 2006, Shiri was offered by "Habima", the Israeli national theater company, to play one of the leading roles in the up-coming musical version of the all-time Israeli cult movie "The Troop". The movie tells the story of antics of the official Israeli Defense Forces band in between the Six Days and Yom Kippur wars (In the early 1970`). "Yediot Aharonot", Israel`s most popular daily paper, wrote: "Above all, the star of the evening is Shiri Maimon", who from the moment she appears manages to conquer the heart of the audience with her simple acting and wonderful singing". These days, in addition to her concert tours and acting commitments to "The Troop" musical, Shiri is working on her second album due to be released in the second hakf of 2007.
Shiri has established reputation of an artist who combined high qualities of visual aspects – styling and choreography, with exceptionally powerful and exciting voice, that capable of performing soul, ballads, pop, R&B and dance music.

Shiri Maimon (Hebrew: שירי מימון; born 17 May 1981) is an Israeli pop/R&B singer, TV show host and actress, who rose to fame as the runner-up in the TV show Kokhav Nolad. She represented Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005, where she came fourth.
