When she was 19 and still a student at college, she began presenting various TV shows about music, cinema and arts at a national TV channel in Turkey targeting the younger audience. Along with her studies on English Language and Literature at Bogazici University in Istanbul, she started taking film and acting classes while working on short films, taking parts in stage productions, commercials and TV series.
Saadet made her debut both nationally and internationally with her portrayal of a village girl in "Egg" by Semih Kaplanoglu, which premiered in 2007 at Directors' Fortnight at Cannes Film Festival, and brought her many acting awards at internationally acclaimed film festivals, such as Sarajevo Film Festival and Valdivia International Film Festival. She also took part in "Milk", the following film by Semih Kaplanoglu, which was at Venice Film Festival Competition Programme in 2008. With other films such as "Eastern Plays", which also premiered at Directors' Fortnight at Cannes Film Festival in 2009 and "Love in Another Language", which brought her a number of national awards, she kept gaining more attention both in her home country and at the international festival circuit.
During this period, she was also taking small parts in American productions such as "A Beautiful Life" by Alejandro Chomski and "The Rebound" with Justin Bartha and Catherine Zeta Jones by Bart Freundlich. However, she got the most international attention after she took part as the red-haired trumpet player "Aska" in "Twice Born" by the Italian actor-director Sergio Castellitto along with Penelope Cruz and Emile Hirsch. The movie premiered at Toronto International Film Festival in 2012 and is still getting released in many countries around the world.

Christy Lemire described her as "the striking Saadet Aksoy" in her Twice Born review, and film critic David Rooney stated, "Saadet Aksoy brings a subdued fieriness to her scenes as a Bosnian woman." on The Hollywood Reporter. In his article on Variety, Boyd Van Hoeij wrote, "Turkish thesp Saadet Aksoy impresses in a supporting role as a spunky Yugoslav local." about her performance in Twice Born.
