From there, King transitioned to ensemble work with the esteemed Royal Shakespeare Company and became a frequent presence on U.K. television, in series programs including Just a Gigolo, Tales of the South Seas, and Full Stretch. King's big-screen appearances officially commenced in the early '90s, and she displayed a predilection for choosing unique, dynamic, and challenging material -- evidenced, for example, by her film-stealing turn as Amelie in John Duigan's South Seas erotic melodrama Wide Sargasso Sea (1992) and a rare lead as Rachel Morris in Welsh director Julian Richards' harrowing pagan horror outing, Darklands (1997). Her collaboration with Kenneth Branagh, as an attendant in the director's controversial four-hour screen version of Hamlet (1996) drew on the actress' Shakespearean background but provided her with relatively little screen time. King enjoyed a period of increased television activity during the late '90s and early 2000s, which included parts in the series Wonderful You and Breaking News, then moved back into films with supporting work in such features as A Perfect Day (2006) and The Bucket List (2007). http://www.allmovie.com/artist/rowena-king-p38347 Rowena King (born Roweena Josephine King in London on 6 December 1970) is a British stage, film and television actress. Earl life and education[edit] Born as Roweena Josephine King on 6 December 1970 in London to Phyllis, the daughter of immigrants from Liberia, and John, a British mechanic, Rowena spent her childhood with her parents in Hertfordshire. She attended formal dramatic studies at the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts[2] and at the London Drama School, from where King transitioned to ensemble work with the Royal Shakespeare Company.[1] Film and television[edit] King first appeared in the 1991 drama London Kills Me, and she soon became a frequent presence in the television series of the United Kingdom, among others in Framed, Screen One, Full Stretch, Just a Gigolo, To Play the King, Tales of the South Seas and Wonderful You in recurring roles. King is known to the public for her performance of Amelie in Wide Sargasso Sea alongside Karina Lombard, Michael York and Naomi Watts, in the 1993 film adaption of Jean Rhys's 1966 novel of the same name directed by John Duigan, and as Rachel Morris in director Julian Richards' Darklands. Her collaboration with Kenneth Branagh in his four-hour screen version of Hamlet, drew on King's Shakespearean background, but provided her with relatively little screen time as attendant to Gertrude. In 2006 the English actress had a secondary role in Peter Levin's A perfect day with Rob Lowe and Christopher Lloyd where she played Heather.[1] In 2007 she appeared as Angelica in Rob Reiner's The Bucket List alongside Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson. King's additional television credits include since the mid-2000s guest rules, among others in Grey's Anatomy, Eli Stone, Nip/Tuck, Lie to Me, Death in Paradise, and recurring roles in Breaking News, Half & Half and The Wrong Mans. In 2015/16 King played a supporting role (8 episodes) in the ABC television drama series Of Kings and Prophets, based on the Books of Samuel. The series follows an ensemble of characters including Saul and David, the successive Kings of Israel, their families, and their political rivals https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rowena_King
