Daughter of Mark and Anne (Kirshenbaum) Klot. British cabaret songstress. Made her first London appearance in 1956 in a revival of The Threepenny Opera at the Royal Court. Once shared a London flat with jazz singer Annie Ross in the early 50s and initially was a member (along with Ross) of the jazz vocal group called Lambert, Hendricks, Ross & Brown. She left abruptly after a very short time and the group later went on to fame as simply Lambert, Hendricks & Ross. Was twice nominated for Broadway`s Tony Awards as Best Actress (Musical): in 1963 for "Oliver!" and in 1990 for a revival of "Threepenny Opera." Was educated at The Central Foundation Grammar School, London. Recorded several solo albums, including The Many Shades of Georgia Brown and Georgia Brown Sings Gershwin. A permanent resident of the United States, Brown died at age 59 during a visit to London due to complications during emergency surgery to remove an intestinal obstruction.
