Gemini-nominated television personality Ziya Tong was born in England in a Chinese-Macedonian descent.
Tong did her Bachelors in Psychology and Sociology from University of British Columbia. She received a Masters degree in communications at McGill University where she graduated on the Dean’s Honour List. She also majored in Psychology. In 2004-05, Tong hosted CBC’s Emmy-nominated TV series ZeD, a pioneer in open source television. Tong then moved to CTV and hosted the travel show Island Escapes in which she highlighted exotic island locations like New Caledonia and Bedarra Island.
The following year she worked as a host and producer for two science based shows, Wired Science (on PBS) and The Leading Edge (on The Knowledge Network). Tong has written for Wired magazine and blogs too on their site for PBS.
Tong became the permanent co-host of Discovery Channel's Daily Planet after working as guest host for two months in 2008. Her unique way of presenting the knowledge based show in an enthusiastic manner hooked audiences across all age groups.Ziya Tong is a highly talented and passionate TV personality.
