Born Dorothy Howe, the young actress was chosen as the female winner of Jesse L. Lasky`s "Gateway to Hollywood" radio talent search in July, 1939. Her reward was membership in the Screen Actor`s Guild and the stage name Virginia Vale. The male winner of the same contest was Kirby Grant.
After retiring from the screen, Vale worked 30+ years for Lockheed and was also an ice skating judge.

Virginia Vale (20 May 1920 - 14 Sep 2006) was an American film actress. She starred in a number of B-movie Westerns but took a variety of other roles as well, notably in Blonde Comet (1941), in which she played a race car driver.
