It is not a secret that Bollywood beauty Lara Dutta is a beauty with brains. This was demonstrated when she scored the highest possible marks in the history of the Miss Universe Contest. After this she was crowned Miss Universe 2000, making history as not only the most beautiful but also the most intelligent young woman to wear this crown in the history of Miss Universe.
Lara was born in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, India, on April 16, 1978. Her dad is retired Wing Commander L.K. Dutta and her mother is Jennifer Dutta. Lara has two sisters, one of whom serves in the Indian Air Force, and is the cousin of Nitin Sawhney.
In 1981 the Dutta family re-located to Bangalore, where Lara was enrolled in St. Francis Xavier Girls` High School where she studied till her 10th and later did her 11th and 12th at the Frank Anthony Public School. After graduating from school, she then went on to earn a degree in Economics from Bombay University. She is fluent in both Hindi and English.
In 1997 Lara enrolled and subsequently won the Miss Gladrags competition, leading her to represent India at the Miss Intercontinental, and thereafter being crowned Miss Universe in 2000 in Cyprus, making her the second Indian to win this prestigious award.
After completing her Miss Universe commitments, she received several offers from Bollywood movie makers, and starred in Andaaz in 2003, which won her considerable recognition, and she subsequently won the best female debut award from Femina.
Thereafter, most of her movies failed to make a mark at the box office, however, she did become popular and a household name. Some of the movies she is remembered for are `Masti`, `No Entry, and `Kaal`.
As of 2007, her forthcoming movies include `Partner`, `Hey Baby`, `Jhoom Barabar Jhoom`, `London Dreams`, `Dulha Mil Gaya, amongst others.
She is also known for her sense of humor, and a talent for writing. She has now announced that she will writing scripts, and hopes that one day someone from Bollywood will make flicks out of them.

Angered at the leading fashion magazine "Gladrags" for allegedly using her photographs for a forthcoming modeling contest without her permission, Lara has filed a suit in the Bombay High Court.

Lara Dutta Bhupathi (born 16 April 1978) is an Indian actress and model who was crowned Miss Universe 2000 and Miss Intercontinental 1997. She was the second woman from India to be crowned Miss Universe, and has been the only delegate from India to win the crown since. She made her Hindi debut in 2003 with the film Andaaz which was a box office success and won her a Filmfare Best Female Debut Award & Screen Best Female Debut Award. Dutta subsequently appeared in several commercially successful films, including Masti (2004), Kaal (2005), and the year 2005 marked a turning point for her when she played a leading role in the comedy No Entry (2005). Lara Dutta established herself as a leading actress of Hindi cinema by playing primary roles in the comedies Bhagam Bhag (2006), Partner (2007) and Housefull (2010). Apart from commercial success, Dutta has received critical appreciation for her performances in the films Jhoom Barabar Jhoom (2007), Billu Barber (2009), Chalo Dilli (2011) and David (2013).
